Northland Vikings (4-0, 2-0) vs. Centennial Stars (1-4, 0-2)
"Northland makes Centennial see Stars"
This game may have been over before tip-off even started, but Northland wanted to make sure they made
their mark for yet another night. On the first offensive possession of the game, that went to Northland, J.D.
"Highlight" Weatherspoon caught a alley-hoop to help put more doubt in the mind of the Centennial players.
As if the height advantage and skill set was not enough. 6'9" Jared Sullinger took much delight with the
height disparity. He made it look took easy, like taking candy from a baby. He owned the boards, he owned
the paint on offense, and even stepped outside to knock down a few three pointers in the half. The Stars
couldn't knock down any open shots that they had. A lot of their shots were readjusted with the fear of being
blocked. They had their chances, but couldn't cash in. Northland held Centennial to a measly two points in
the first quarter, while they put up 18. It was the same routine in the second quarter also. The Stars must
have psyched their own selves out. With point guard Trey Burke not playing you would've figured that they
would of attacked Northland's back-up Charles Edgerton. But he handled himself and the offense pretty well.
He didn't shoot as much as Burke, but the offense was in a consistent flow. Centennial did manage to score
five points this quarter, doubling their first period total. The Vikings were just too much as predicted. Sullinger
led Northland going into half time with 20 points, and Cameron Robinson led Centennial with 4 points. 41 to
7, NHS at half.
In the third quarter, Centennial's Darrell Chenault finally caught fire, which most of the Stars crowd had been
wanting since tip-off. He hit three from behind the arc, with 12 points total for the quarter. The Stars actually
outscored the Vikings 16 to 15. But to be fair, Northland put some reserves in the game, and they slowed
down the tempo while Centennial kept their starters on the court. So what does that really say? The Stars
continued to hit the outside shot in the fourth period, but when they missed, Northland was able to get the
long rebounds and turn them into quick lay-ups.Needless to say the final score was 80 to 37, NHS.
Centennial plays next week against Tree of Life, but Northland won't play again until 2009. Jared lead all
scorers with 26 points, and Chenault lead the Stars with 18.

Warrior's Streak Still Alive
Doug Thorpe poured in 29 points as Eastmoor erased a early defecit to knock off host
Marion-Franklin 70-61. The win extends the Warriors city league south winning streak to 32
games.
Marion-Franklin opened up the game on a 10-2 run, only for Eastmoor to score 18
unanswered points to take a 20-10 lead. Eastmoor went into halftime up 33-26.
Marion-Franklin would cut the lead to as close as four in the second half and even made the
crowd pump after a tip in dunk by Elijah MaCon. In the end, the experience and poise of
Eastmoor was just too much for the Red Devils to handle. Jeremy McCoy led Marion-Franklin
with 16 points.
Eastmoor next opponent will be the West Cowboys. Marion-Franklin will participate in the
Strongsville Tournament on December 29th.
