Marion Franklin Falls Again In Overtime
Greg Dawkins led the 76ers with 20 points, as Independence
knocked off the Marion-Franklin Red Devils in overtime 65-57 in
a City League South showdown. The win keeps Independence
hopes for a division championship alive while hurts
Marion-Franklin's hope at the title.
After Marion-Franklin started the game on a 9-3 run,
Independence would storm back behind the play of James Young
and Brandon Tyler to take a 26-21 halftime lead. Tied at 53 all,
Dawkins bucket fail short taking the game into over time.
However, the 76ers would out played Marion-Franklin in O.T. to
take the 65-57 victory.
With the win, Independence remains in second trailing Eastmoor
Academy by a game in the City League South standings.
Marion-Franklin drops to 4-4 in division play in a third place tie
with Walnut Ridge. Both teams resume play on Monday February
2nd with Marion-Franklin taking on Africentric and Independence
facing Walnut Ridge.
