"Northland outlasts fury from Whetstone"
J.D. Weatherspoon led Northland with 20 points along with 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and a
assist to help the Vikings keep away a fiesty Whetstone squad. With the combination of
him and Jared Sullinger, who scored 19 points, they were just too much for the Braves
to dethrone. Tanner Furno led Whetstone with 15 points. But that alone would not be
enough help. The Braves just got off to a very slow start scoring only 2 points in the first
quarter. Which cannot happen against a veteran team like the Vikings. The only thing for
the Vikings is that only the starters scored. They will need more from their bench come
tourney time. Especially since they are the hot topic of discussion in the central district. I
am sure coach Sullinger in crew will have them ready. The Vikings have their North
crown in their sights. The next few games will show if they will reach that goal and earn
a spot in the city league championship. Stay tuned.
