Lady Cougars come up short against Pioneers in physical game
Orange High School
Olentangy Orange 42, Beechcroft 32
The Cougars of Beechcroft entered tonight’s game with a 4-4 record, against first year team Olentangy Orange High School. If you like physical defense and low scoring games, then this was the game for you, as neither team seemed to be able to score. The Lady Cougars especially had trouble only scoring four points in the 1st quarter and entering halftime with only 9 points. The Pioneers of Orange had similar problems, after scoring 11 points in the 1st quarter they entered the locker room at half time with only 13 points. In the second half scoring increased, but not by much. Olentangy Orange increased their lead to seven points entering the 4th quarter with a 24-17 advantage. As the 4th quarter started, the officials decided that the game was getting too physical and started calling multiple fouls. Beechcroft cut the lead to eight in the closing minutes, but was unable to make it any closer. Taronna Neal and Miyoshi McGee led the Cougars with 8 points each. Beechcroft resumes City League play Tuesday as they host Whetstone.
